| Heartwood Pottery Sampler
We have put together a sampling of the variety of artists and their
works to provide a sense of what you can expect to find at Heartwood
Gallery.
Like all good works of art, the sampling you see here is best experienced
in person. Art is to be enjoyed and used.

Artist statement: "The forms that interest me most reflect my love of the ocean; boats, water, continual movement, and repetitive patterns. These forms are softened by an ever changing color pallet and the atmosphere of my soda
kiln. In contrast to the looseness of my forms are the inherent vertical influences of grain silos and water towers."

Artist statement: "I am fascinated with creating works in clay that balance visual elements of form, texture, and pattern with utility. Whether a piece is thrown on the wheel or handbuilt with thin slabs, textures are impressed into the soft surface with handmade clay stamps. Surfaces and designs in textiles, architecture and nature influence the motifs."
Amy Sanders is a potter who creates stoneware vessels that are both functional and uniquely visual. Her Work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the united States, in several publications and at American Craft Council Show. |

| Each piece of Stephen's work begins
with a quiet walk in the woods where Stephen and his assistants
select the leaves that make each piece a unique work of art.
Like snowflakes, no two leaves are exactly the same, and are
like "God's fingerprints." |

| The scenes on Karen's pots are a
mix of family gatherings and influences such as Matisse and
Southern folk art. Nature is also a source for pattern, an empty
field or fields full of crops, trellis of roses or rows of tulips. |
