Hessel Studios - candleholders
Distinctive, decorative copper candleholders. Hand forging of copper involves a lot of heat and hammering. After going over the surface numerous times with high heat torches and different hammers, the desired shape and texture is achieved. Many of the tools used are developed by the artist Gregg Hessel who is inspired by traditional techniques of metalworking as well as the desire to invent metalworking techniques for the future.

Fritz Spokas - turned wood

Working primarily with indigenous hardwoods, Fritz Spokas creates functional and decorative objects that are known and collected for their refinement and elegance. Self-taught, he has been turning wood since 1986. He left a successful first career in 1994 to devote himself full-time to his craft. By working in the traditional manner, directle from the log, he maximizes the wood's beauty and character.

Fire and Light - handmade glass

Fire & Light hand-poured glass tableware has a way of drawing the eye, enchanting the viewer with the unique play of light that filters through its rich spectrum of colors and textures. This enchantment is not simply a quality of the glass or its pigmentation, but of the very way in which it is made, the very hands that pour and press it, the beliefs and spirit that drive the people who craft the product, and the community from which it originates.

Edward Wohl - wood cutting boards
Edward's solid bird's-eye maple cutting boards are unlike any you've seen. Each board is crafted by joining sections from a single piece of specially selected, figured bird's-eye maple, so the wood tone and figuring are consistent throughout. Each is precision-shaped and hand-beveled for graceful shape and balance. Individually hand-sanded and finished to a sensual silkiness, each board is an art object designed to add aesthetic and utilitarian pleasure to your daily life.

Some owners display their cutting boards as art and hesitate to use them. However, they are designed to provide many years of service and satisfaction; minimal care will preserve their appearance.

Karim & Nawal Motawi - decorative tiles

Motawi Tiles are handcrafted in the Ann Arbor studio of siblings Nawal and Karim Motawi with locally produced clay. Sumptuous glazes, flowers, landscapes, Art Nouveau styling, and Arts & Crafts simplicity combine to make these collectors items.

"Everyone is better off when they have a little bit of art in their daily lives." ~ Karim Motawi
